Even psycho-analysts have a tricky time with this one. They believe that it starts around puberty, but, some young boys will experiment dressing up in say their sister's panties and race around the house and turn out to be full-fledged heterosexual males in years to come. psycho-analysts don't seem to know when it starts or really why and what I am typing out is basically a guesstimate on why men choose to dress up as women:
Cross-dressing is another term for dressing in womens clothing, and this and trans-sexuality and the combination of both with homosexuality are often turned around, even by some practising cross-dressers. A typical cross-dresser would be a man who appears quite normal at all times when he is not crossdressing. He is not likely to be bisexual, will prefer women as his sex partners and will most certainly not want to lose his penis. In contrast, a typical male transsexual will not identify in any way with his physically normal male body. He believes that he is female and is trapped in the body of a man. To him, his penis is a mistake of nature and he will want to get rid of it.
Some men use cross-dressing for the purpose of sexual stimulation. It seems that the majority of crossdressers are no more likely to go on to trans-sexuality than a social drinker is to alcoholism or an occasional cannabis user to injecting hard drugs. Naturally everyone has to start somewhere and there is some evidence to suggest that the longer you cross-dress, the further along the continuum may find yourself moving.

3/ He will border on trans-genderism in that he will live and effectively be woman for extended periods of time. The just real contrast between these so-called "secondary" trans-genders and the full transsexual is that, again, like all the less extreme cross-dressers, they have no wish to actually be full-time females.
WHY DO MEN Crossdress?
One concept is that transvestism is a way of putting forward a challenge to society's preconceptions about gender. Some men cross-dress because they think bored as a man. Others didn't mind the male state, but also like to dress in female's clothes occasionally. Some men crossdress merely to make a passing social or fashion statement, and some because they have emotional needs that can just be satisfied by the comfort that wearing something feminine provides them.
For many crossdressers, dressing up is an intensely sexual activity. Most cross-dressers have their first cross-dressing perception around teenage or in adolescence. The first adventure is likely to be sexually exciting and the adolescent will continue with the practice. However, transvestism is not just a sexual deviation. There are plenty of men who get a kick out of cross-dressing, but the accepted view of most experts in this field is that they are not in the majority.
One of the main reasons why men cross-dress is to create, in themselves, the ideal woman, so they no longer have to fear rejection, criticism or disappointment which might come with attempted of intercourse with a woman.
Transvestites usually will do this secretly and anticipate when the family leave the house. They have their day planned! They will even go so far as to shave off body hair, take a hot, perfumed, bubble bath, and dress in something silky. Many males will masturbate (they are male, but feel like they are simultaneously woman) However, many crossdressers just look forward to the feel of certain materials against their bodies and go no further than at most dressing up. More and more cross-dressers are "coming out of the closet" and if fortunate, their wives might accept the way they are inasmuch as they keep it secret and away from friends and family.Most crossdressers are behind closed doors about it and THEY ARE NOT USUALLY Homosexual.
