Even therapists have a tricky time with this one. They think that it starts around teenage, but, some boys will experiment dressing up in say their aunt's panties and race around the house and turn out to be full-fledged heterosexual males in years to come. psycho-analysts don't seem to know when it starts or really why and what I am typing out is basically a guess on why men choose to dress up as female:
Cross-dressing is another term for crossdressing, and this and trans-sexuality and the combination of both with gayity are often confused, even by some practising transvestites. A typical crossdresser would be a man who appears quite normal at all times when he is not dressing up. He is not likely to be homosexual, will prefer full-time females as his sex partners and will most certainly not want to lose his penis. In contrast, a typical male transsexual will not identify in any way with his physically normal male body. He believes that he is a woman and is trapped in the body of a man. To him, his penis is a mistake of nature and he will want to get rid of it.
Some men use cross-dressing for the purpose of sexual excitement. It seems that the majority of transvestites are no more likely to go on to trans-genderism than a social drinker is to alcoholism or an occasional cannabis user to injecting hard drugs. Indeed everyone has to start somewhere and there is some evidence to suggest that the longer you cross-dress, the further along the continuum may find yourself moving.
After his initial experiences, the crossdresser will progress to one of 3 main groups:
1/ He will stay with the type of clothes he first used and have a fetish-like affixation to them.
2/ His initial choices will evolve and he will gradually move on to other apparel and finally into the desire to be dressed completely as a woman and to fantasize for periods of time that he is female, but he will not want to go beyond pretending and will need to retain his male persona.
3/ He will fringe trans-genderism in that he will live and pass off as woman for lengthy periods of time. The entirely real contrast between these so-named "secondary" trans-genders and the full transsexual is that, again, like all the less extreme transvestites, they have no need to actually be full-time females.

The first sensation is likely to be sexually stimulating and the teenager will persist with the practice. However, cross-dressing is not just a sexual variation. There are plenty of men who get a buzz from crossdressing, but the accepted view of most experts in this field is that they are not in the majority.
One of the main reasons why men dress up is to create, in themselves, the ideal woman, so they no longer have to fear rejection, criticism or disappointment which might come with attempted of intercourse with female.
Cross-dressers usually will do this in private and enjoy when the wife and kids leave the house. They have their day planned! They will even go so far as to shave off body hair, take a hot, perfumed, bubble bath, and dress in something silky. Many males will masturbate (they are male, but feel like they are simultaneously female) However, many cross-dressers just look forward to the feel of certain clothing against their skin and go no further than at most dressing up. More and more transvestites are "coming out of the closet" and if lucky, their wives might accept the way they are as long as they keep it secret and away from friends and family.Most cross-dressers are hush-hush about it and THEY ARE NOT USUALLY Homosexual.
